CHARLESTON, S.C. --- The College of Charleston baseball team will welcome Youngstown State to Patriots Point for a three-game series this weekend with both squads looking to build on a 2-1 start to the season. First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
Weekend Preview
The Cougars and Penguins meet for the 12th time on Friday afternoon to open a three-game series at Patriots Point. Coach Holbrook and the Cougars opened the season with back-to-back wins over Iona before falling to Maryland on Sunday in extra innings. The Penguins took two of three at Houston on the season's opening weekend.
Scouting Youngstown State
Youngstown State was picked fifth in the Horizon League Preseason Poll after posting a 13-41 overall record and a 7-20 league mark last season. The Penguins opened the season with a series win against No. 35 Houston after back-to-back extra inning victories.
Steven D'Eusanio leads the team with two home runs, five RBI and a .462 batting average after going 6-for-13 at Houston. Colin Floyd turned in a superb start on Saturday allowing two runs on two hits and striking out seven in seven innings.

Seniors Ari Sechopoulos, Harrison Hawkins and Luke Stageberg got off to a strong start to the season over the weekend combining for 14 hits - eight for extra bags - and seven RBI to pace the offense.
Making Their Mark
Several freshmen made the most of their first opportunities at the collegiate level over the weekend including a pair of superb starts by rookie right-handers Caswell Smith and CJ Czerwinski. Smith fanned seven over four one-run innings on Saturday to earn the win while Czerwinski tossed five scoreless frames against Maryland on Sunday.
Freshman shortstop Trotter Harlan delivered four hits and several stellar plays in the hole. Ty Good struck out the side in his first career appearance on Saturday and Joseph Mershon plated two with his first collegiate hit on Saturday as well.
