CHARLESTON, S.C. --- The College of Charleston baseball team will look to build on the momentum from Wednesday's win over Clemson when the Cougars return home to host Evansville in a three-game series this weekend. First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
Weekend Preview
The Cougars enter the weekend on a high after thumping No. 21 Clemson by a score of 11-2 on Wednesday in Clemson. Evansville comes into the series on a four-game winning streak following a 0-8 start to the season.
Scouting Evansville
Evansville was picked to finish sixth in the Missouri Valley Conference preseason poll after posting an 11-11 mark in MVC play last season. The Purple Aces enter the week with a 4-8 mark following a 5-3 win at UT Martin on Wednesday.
Tanner Craig paces the Purple Aces with six home runs, 14 RBI and a .386 batting average while Indiana Stanley has clubbed two homers and driven in nine runs. Saturday starter Shane Gray is 1-0 thus far with a 2.89 ERA and 17 strikeouts.

Friday marks the first-ever meeting between Charleston and Evansville.

The Cougars struck early and often in an 11-2 drubbing of No. 21 Clemson on Wednesday. Donald Hansis and Ari Sechopoulos combined for eight RBI and three home runs as Charleston equaled its largest-ever victory over a Power Five opponent.

Junior Donald Hansis put on a show in Wednesday's 11-2 win over Clemson going 3-for-4 with two home runs, six RBI and three runs scored. His first-inning two-out grand slam set the tone for the Cougars before he punctuated the performance with a solo shot in the sixth and an RBI single in the seventh.
Stellar Starters
The Cougars weekend rotation has delivered in a big way over the first three weekends combining for a 3-0 record with a 2.06 ERA and 43 strikeouts in 43.1 innings thus far. New Friday starter Jordan Carr has struck out 20 in 19.1 innings and carries a 2.33 ERA over three starts. Caswell Smith ranks third in the CAA with two wins and has fanned 16 in 13 frames. CJ Czerwinski carries a 1.59 ERA with seven K's in his first 11.1 innings of work.
Setting the Stage
Luke Stageberg has made his presence felt in the two-hole through the first nine games of the season batting .350 with five RBI and a .400 on-base percentage thus far. The senior second baseman has yet to commit an error in his first 41 chances in the field.
