CofC’s Second-Half Comeback Falls Short at Stetson

Freshmen Raekwon Horton scored a career-high 14 points in the loss

DeLand, Florida – Despite falling down by as many 15 early in the second half, Charleston Basketball mounted a comeback but fell just short in a 67-59 loss on the road Thursday night at Stetson. The Cougars drop to 7-4 on the season.

An 11-2 CofC run spurred by tenacious defense sliced the Cougars' second-half deficit to three with 5:27 remaining. A tough bucket in the lane from Brenden Tucker and a transition triple by Fah'mir Ali capped the run to get Charleston within one possession.

Stetson responded though on the back of Chase Johnston, whose shotclock-beating 3-pointer from well beyond the arc allowed the Hatters to seize back momentum. The Cougars battled in the final four minutes of action, but the comeback effort came up short.

Freshman Raekwon Horton led CofC with a career-high 14 points and a career-best nine rebounds. He added three steals and three assists in the best performance of his young career. Tucker tossed in 11 points and senior Dimitrius Underwood finished with eight points and eight boards.
