New Orleans – Fah'mir Ali scored all 12 of his points in the second half, including three 3-pointers in a 1:19 span late in the game, to power the College of Charleston to an 86-72 win over Tulane on Tuesday night at the Devlin Center.
The win, coupled with an 81-77 victory last week at TD Arena, gave the Cougars (6-3) a sweep of the home-and-home series with the Green Wave (3-6).Â
CofC trailed 34-30 at intermission before shooting 59.4 percent (19-of-32) over the final 20 minutes, including 8-of-16 from beyond the arc. The Cougars got baskets from seven different players over the first eight minutes of the second half, with
Reyne Smith's 3-pointer giving them the lead for good at 47-45.
Ali made all four of his second half trifectas, and his consecutive baskets at the 5:20 and 4:54 marks boosted the Cougar advantage to 67-53. After a pair of Tulane buckets and two free throws by
Babacar Faye, Ali finished his torrid run with another bomb to make it 72-57 with four minutes remaining.
Ali also dished out six of his season-high eight assists after the break. Smith led CofC with 15 points as five Cougars reached double figures. In addition to Smith and Ali,
Brenden Tucker finished with 13,
