CHARLESTON, S.C. --- The College of Charleston baseball team will look to rebound from a midweek setback when the Cougars welcome USC Upstate to Patriots Point this weekend for a three-game series. First pitch for Friday's opener is slated for 4:00 p.m. while Saturday's start time has been moved to 2:00 p.m. Sunday's first pitch remains scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
Game Preview
The Cougars won their first two games of the season but are currently on a two-game slide after dropping the series finale to North Carolina A&T and suffering a midweek setback to Georgia Southern on Wednesday. USC Upstate opened the season with a sweep of Toledo last weekend.
Scouting the Spartans
The Spartans were picked to finish third in the Big South after posting a 13-5 record in the COVID-19 shortened 2020 campaign. Upstate is batting .324 as a team thus far with six extra-base hits and 26 runs scored.
Jason Matthews and Jack Gallagher are tied for the team-lead with a .462 (6-for-13) batting average through three games while Matthews leads the Spartans with six RBI. Friday starter Jordan Marks is 1-0 after striking out eight and holding Toledo to one unearned run through six frames last Friday.

Freshman right-hander Ty Good made a smooth transition to the starting rotation in game one of last Sunday's twin bill, fanning seven over five and two-thirds innings of work to earn his first collegiate win. The Rock Hill, S.C. native struck out the side twice in the second and fourth innings.
