CHARLESTON, S.C. --- The College of Charleston baseball team welcomes William & Mary to Patriots Point this weekend to begin Colonial Athletic Association action with both teams looking to start conference play on a positive note. First pitch on Friday afternoon is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.

Series Preview
The Cougars enter the weekend with a 3-7 overall record following a series setback to Alabama last weekend and a 3-2 loss to Campbell on Tuesday. William & Mary stands at 1-6 this season after dropping a midweek matchup to Old Dominion, 8-2, on Wednesday.

Scouting the Tribe
The Tribe were picked to finish fifth in the CAA South Division after posting an 8-9 record in the COVID-19 shortened 2020 campaign. William & Mary has accumulated 15 extra-base hits so far this season while surrendering 24 knocks for extra bags as a pitching staff.

Tyler Solomon and Nic Britt have each accounted for one homer and three RBI to pace the Tribe offense. Friday starter Wade Strain carries a 1-1 record with a 2.38 ERA and nine strikeouts in two starts so far this season.

Making the Transition
Freshman right-hander Ty Good has made a smooth transition to the starting rotation through his first three collegiate starts. The Rock Hill, S.C. native carries a 2-1 record with a 1.72 ERA and 20 strikeouts in 15.2 innings into the weekend, and will move up one spot into the rotation to Friday night against William & Mary.

Mr. Consistent
Second-year freshman Joseph Mershon has been the Cougars' most consistent presence in the batting order so far this season leading the team with a .333 batting average through 11 games. The Eastside High School product has reached base safely in eight appearances thus far including four multi-hit performances.
