
Charleston Begins Road Swing With Midweek at Presbyterian

CHARLESTON, S.C. --- The College of Charleston baseball team will hit the road for its second midweek matchup of the season on Tuesday when the Cougars travel to Clinton, S.C. to take on in-state foe Presbyterian. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. at the PC Baseball Complex.
Charleston carries a 6-1 record into the week after completing its second series sweep of the season with three wins over Siena at Patriots Point. Presbyterian is 4-4 thus far following a doubleheader sweep of Manhattan on Saturday.

LEADING OFF
- Freshman Tyler Sorrentino was named the CAA's Rookie of the Week on Monday after batting .429 (6-for-14) with two doubles, two runs scored, two stolen bases and four RBI in the weekend sweep of Siena. The rookie outfielder has begun his collegiate career with a seven-game hitting streak highlighted by a walk-off two-run double in game two of Saturday's doubleheader.
- Charleston's pitching staff has been nothing short of spectacular through the first seven games of the season entering the week ranked fourth in the nation in WHIP (0.87), ninth in hits allowed per nine innings (5.25) and 14th in both strikeout-to-walk ratio (4.24) and walks allowed per nine innings (2.55).
- The Cougars have held opponents to a .167 batting average and seven extra-base hits while surrendering only 17 walks and striking out 72 batters.
- Junior Trotter Harlan has been an on-base machine so far this season with an on-base percentage of .552 through seven games. The Fountain Inn, S.C. native has reached base in 19 straight games dating back to last season and currently ranks fifth in the nation in walks (10). He also ranks seventh in stolen bases (7).
- Senior infielder Cam Dean has made the most of his opportunities in the lineup thus far batting .333 with four runs scored and a team-high seven RBI - including five with two outs. The Surfside Beach, S.C. native has accounted for six of his seven RBI with a trio of two-run singles and is 4-for-6 this season with runners in scoring position so far.
- Freshman right-hander Daniel Brooks is quickly making a name for himself in the early stages of his collegiate career with 17 strikeouts through his first 11 innings as a Cougar. The 6-foot-7 workhorse is tied for first in the CAA in K's and ranks 39th nationally. He currently sports a 1.64 ERA while holding opponents to a .135 batting average through two starts.
- The Blue Hose carry a 4-4 record into the week with a series win against North Florida and a doubleheader sweep of Manhattan.
- Presbyterian is batting .232 as a team with eight doubles and five home runs.
- Jack Gorman paces the Blue Hose offense batting .417 with two doubles, a home run, four RBI and seven runs scored.
- Chris Veach and Case Hughes have driven in seven and six runs, respectively, while Hughes has clubbed a team-best two homers.
- Tuesday starter Colbey Klepper has made one appearance this season allowing four earned runs on three hits in two and one-third innings at Georgia Tech.
