
Cougars Primed for Midweek Matchup With No. 2 Longhorns

CHARLESTON, S.C. --- The College of Charleston baseball team will look to build on a series win over UMass Lowell on Tuesday when the Cougars welcome the second-ranked Texas Longhorns to Patriots Point for a midweek matchup. First pitch for Tuesday's game one is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
Charleston enters the week with a 9-7 record following its third series win of the season over the weekend against UMass Lowell. Texas comes into Tuesday's tilt ranked second in the nation with a 13-4 overall record after dropping two of three at South Carolina.

LEADING OFF
- Junior Trotter Harlan has been an on-base machine so far this season with an on-base percentage of .515 through 16 games. The Fountain Inn, S.C. native has reached base in 27 of the last 28 games dating back to last season and is currently second in the nation with 18 walks.
- Redshirt freshman Preston Hall had a weekend to remember against the Riverhawks reaching base eight times while driving in six runs, including four in game two of Saturday's doubleheader.
- The Cougars have terrorized opposing batteries so far this season entering the week ranked ninth in the nation tied for the CAA-lead with 36 stolen bases through 16 games. Three Cougars have swiped at least six bags thus far including a league-best 10 by Trotter Harlan.
- Charleston's pitching staff comes into the week leading the CAA in both total strikeouts (152) and strikeouts per nine innings (9.89) while also ranking second in opposing batting average (.231) and ERA (3.90).
- William Privette, Reed Parris and Luke Vaks have been superb out of the 'pen thus far combining for three earned runs in more than 30 innings of work while fanning 39 batters. Parris has been nothing short of spectacular in 12 innings over five appearances with a 0.75 ERA and 15 strikeouts. Privette sports a 1.06 ERA with 21 strikeouts in 17 innings of work and ranks second in the CAA with a WHIP of 0.76.
- Senior infielder Cam Dean continues to make the most of his opportunities at the dish entering the week tied for the team-lead with 11 RBI including a squad-best six with two outs. The Surfside Beach, S.C. native is batting .462 (6-for-13) with runners in scoring position and plated two runs with his first home run as a Cougar in Sunday's series-clinching win over UMass Lowell.
- The Longhorns enter the week with a 13-4 record after dropping one to Texas State and two to South Carolina last week.
- Texas is ranked ninth in the nation with a 0.986 fielding percentage with only nine errors in 632 chances through 17 games.
- Ivan Melendez is on a tear to start the season with seven home runs (11th in the nation) and 26 RBI (ninth) to go along with seven doubles, a .333 batting average and a .810 slugging percentage.
- Murphy Stehly is batting a team-high .426 batting average with 26 hits and seven doubles.
- Tuesday's projected starter Andre Duplantier II sports a 2-0 record with a 4.50 earned run average and 11 strikeouts in 16 innings of work. He has also held opponents to a .179 batting average.
