CHARLESTON, S.C. – Hofstra and Charleston meet at Patriots Point for the first time since the 2019 season in a pivotal CAA series with two games separating the two sides in the conference standings. In their last meeting from the Holy City, Charleston swept the Pride outscoring them 32-4 with two shutout wins to open and close the weekend.
Both teams enter the weekend off a midweek loss with Hofstra suffering a 5-0 shutout defeat at Rutgers and Charleston falling late 10-5 to Wofford at home. The Cougars are 2-0 in home CAA series with a sweep of Towson while Hofstra is 0-2 in road CAA series dropping sets to Delaware and newcomer North Carolina A&T.
Charleston returns home for the middle of a five-game home swing after opening April on the road and a five-game road stretch scheduled starting next weekend in New Jersey. This weekend's series is the last of a stretch that sees 20 of Hofstra's first 30 games on the road with a six-game homestand starting next week.
Since their lone postseason meeting in 2018 – a Charleston win – the Cougars have scored six or more runs in six of the seven meetings with three shutout victories over that span.

Scouting the Pride
- Hofstra enters the weekend off a midweek loss at Rutgers but took the weekend series over Stony Brook at home despite dropping the Friday game. The series win over the Seawolves were just the eighth, ninth and tenth home contests for the Pride after opening with 17 of the first 27 on the road.
- At the dish, four hitters are batting above .300 led by Dylan Palmer's even .400 clip with a .533 slug and .464 on base percentage. Palmer also carries an 11-game hit streak into the weekend and hit .545 from the leadoff spot last weekend.
- As a team the Pride are hitting .284 – fifth in the CAA – but have hit the fewest home runs in the league with just 12 through 27 games.
- On the mound four pitchers have worked at least 20 innings led by Sunday starter Brad Camarda – who was just named CAA Pitcher of the Week following a complete game shutout of Stony Brook to clinch the series. The graduate right hander carried a no-hitter into the fifth inning and finished the day with five strikeouts for his second career complete game shutout.
