The Cougars and Bulldogs have met every full season dating back to 1991 when Charleston made the move to Division I. Tuesday's single meeting, however, is just the third time in that span Charleston and The Citadel meet just once in a regular season.
Scouting the Bulldogs
- The Citadel enters the contest 22-25 overall having dropped their most recent conference series in Cullowhee, N.C. to Western Carolina. The Citadel is 18-13 at home this season and 19-14 inside the Charleston metropolitan area splitting two games at Charleston Southern but are just 4-12 overall as the visiting team.
- In their 2-2 series with Charleston Southern, The Citadel took the middle two by scores of 6-5 and 11-3 but dropped the first and finale 4-1 and 8-7.
- The Bulldogs are hitting .283 as a team – 5th in the Southern Conference. Travis Lott (.338) and Thomas Rollauer (.331) rank among the league's Top-20 in batting average. Two other Bulldog lineup mainstays sit above the .300 mark – Noah Mitchell (.322) and Sawyer Reeves (.315). Mitchell's four triples rank third in the SoCon.
- The Bulldogs' top four hitters production-wise (Lott, Rollauer, Mitchell and Reeves) are responsible for 19 of the Bulldogs' 26 long balls in 2023.
- Weekend starters Cameron Reeves (7-4, 3.45) and Sam Swygert (5-2, 3.92) sit among the top-five in ERA as the Bulldogs rank second in the SoCon behind only preseason favorite Wofford in Team ERA (5.79).
- The Citadel clubbed a season-high five home runs Sunday in their series finale loss at Western Carolina with Noah Mitchell hitting a pair. Sawyer Reeves hit his third leadoff homer of the season in the loss while Rollauer and Crosby Jones also went deep.
- Tuesday's probable starter Tyler Jones has seen 4.1 innings of work across six appearances on the season with this scheduled as his first start. In his last outing, the Wando native struck out a pair in one inning of work Sunday at Western Carolina.

- Charleston owns the longest win streak between the two sides, taking 18-straight from March 9, 2014 to May 18, 2021.
- Each team won on their home field in 2022 with The Citadel claiming an 8-6 win at Joseph P. Riley Park and Charleston taking a 15-9 decision from Patriots Point.
- Since Patriots Point opened in 2001, the Cougars are 30-5 at home versus The Citadel winning the previous 17 (dating back to 2010) heading into Tuesday.

- With their series win over first-place UNCW this weekend, Charleston clinched their spot in the 2023 CAA Championships hosted at Patriots Point. The Cougars are in fourth place of the CAA standings but sit just one game back from the No. 1 seed and can clinch a top-two spot with a series win at Northeastern.

- Ty Good leads all CAA pitchers with 87 strikeouts and opponents' batting average (.198) while Cole Mathis and Trey Pooser join him among the CAA's Top-12 in ERA.
- Charleston can make it back-to-back seasons with 25 wins at home Tuesday. A win would also mark the eighth time in program history the Cougars have won 25-plus at home.
- A win on Tuesday would finish the Cougars' nonconference home schedule at 15-4 including wins over then-No. 14 Virginia Tech, UMBC, Coastal Carolina, Michigan State, Air Force, Longwood, Charleston Southern and Western Carolina. The Cougars would also finish 4-1 in the final 5 home contests ahead of the 2023 CAA Tournament.
