
Charleston Heads to Boston With CAA Seeding Up For Grabs

CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston heads north to Boston for a weekend set with Northeastern and CAA Seeding up for grabs. A CAA Regular Season Title is within reach as well as a first round bye in the upcoming conference tournament with Charleston sitting just one game out of first place.

Charleston makes their first visit to Boston since 2019 when the Cougars took two of three. Seven was the magic number of the series with Northeastern taking a 7-0 decision the opener before Charleston responded with 7-5 and 7-1 wins of their own to close it out.
The Cougars and Huskies have also met twice in each of the last two postseasons and six times total in the CAA Tournament since Charleston made the move to the CAA in 2014.l
Charleston also looks to claim a third-straight CAA series to put a bow on the regular season while finishing 4-1 in road league series. Northeastern enters seeking a weekend win after dropping the previous two on the road to UNCW and William & Mary.
Two wins this weekend from the Cougars would tie the program record for road CAA series wins matching the 2015 team that made it to an NCAA Regional Final. Charleston took down JMU, Delaware, William & Mary and Northeastern on the road that season and already has series wins at William & Mary, Monmouth and North Carolina A&T this year.

- Northeastern sits at the top of the CAA in multiple categories leading in ERA (3.54) and fielding percentage (.977) and sitting second in batting average (.302).
- The Huskies' 3.54 Team ERA ranks second nationally behind the current No. 1 team in D1 Baseball Wake Forest. Northeastern also ranks fourth in the NCAA in walks allowed per nine innings (2.99).
- At the plate and on the basepaths, Northeastern ranks seventh nationally in steals (123) and are top-40 in batting average.
- Freshman righty Aiven Cabral paces the CAA in ERA (2.56) and has tossed at least six innings in six of his last nine appearances.
- Sophomore outfielder Mike Sirota paces the offense with a .368 average, 63 runs scored, 16 home runs and 46 RBI while swiping 19 bases in 21 attempts.

- Joseph Mershon is just four walks (114) shy of passing Brett Anderson for fourth-most in program history. Mershon is also one triple (7) shy of joining Tyler Sorrentino (8) as the 12th and 13th Cougars with at least 8 triples in a career.
- Cole Mathis (20) is just one double shy of entering the top-10 in a single season at Charleston.
