Women’s Soccer Welcomes Mercer

CHARLESTON, S.C.-The College of Charleston women's soccer team returns home for a Thursday evening matchup against Mercer at Ralph Lundy Field at Patriots Point. Kick-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
This is the seventh all-time meeting between Charleston and Mercer dating back to 1993 as the Bears lead the series 5-1. Mercer took the 4-1 victory the last time the programs met a season ago in Macon.
The Cougars (0-2-1) fell 2-0 to Coastal Carolina on Sunday evening. Coastal Carolina scored their first goal of the day on a penalty kick and capitalized on the opportunity to take the early 1-0 lead. The Chanticleers added on a second tally with eight minutes remaining in the game. The Cougars took five shots in the final eight minutes but could not capitalize on the opportunity.
Charleston is led by Bella Antonio and Avery Nassetta, who have each recorded a goal on the young season. Delaney Dawes paces the Cougars with eight shots while Olivia Freitas follows close behind with seven. Goalkeeper Savannah Barron has eight saves.
Mercer (2-0-2) won 9-0 against Alabama State on Sunday morning, scoring seven of their nine goals in the second half.
