CHARLESTON, S.C. - The College of Charleston baseball team will make the short trip to Charleston Southern tomorrow night for game two of the season series with the Buccaneers. CSU won the first meeting between the two this year, 7-5 at Patriots Point back in March. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. with the game being broadcast on ESPN+.

Starting Pitchers

RHP Daniel Brooks (CofC - 1-0, 9.45 ERA) vs. Matt Gallant (0-1, 5.84 ERA)

Last Time Out

Charleston picked up a big series win over the weekend at CAA-leading UNCW, taking games one and two of the series. The Cougars bats struck early and often in the wins. Kevin Madden got things going with a second inning homer on Friday to put the Cougs ahead. Charleston then scored three runs in the fourth and seventh innings to take a 7-1 lead. The Cougars bullpen fought off a late UNCW rally to pick up an 8-5 win. On Saturday, Cole Singsank kicked-off a 12-3 blowout with a three-run homer in the first. The Cougars continued to add on throughout the game, scoring five in the seventh to take a commanding lead.

UNCW responded with a big pitching performance from Zane Taylor on Sunday. Taylor shutout the Cougars bats until the seventh inning as the Seahawks won 6-3 to avoid the sweep.

Scouting the Bucs

Charleston Southern enters with a record of 14-18 on the season with a 6-3 mark in Big South play. The Bucs took two-of-three on the road at Longwood this past weekend. A 12-8 win on Friday snapped a six-game losing streak after the Bucs dropped midweek games with the Citadel and Wofford, getting swept by Creighton in between.

CSU boasts some potent bats in the lineup with Cade Conway hitting .409 to lead the team. Chandler Tuupo enters the game at .393 with a team high eight homers and 31 RBI. In the Bucs win at Patriots Point this year, Tuupo finished 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI and a run scored. Dakota Miller (.325) and Peter Werth (.314) round out the Bucs hitting leaders. Just behind those four is Lucas Pringle sitting at .296. Pringle had a three-run homer against in the game earlier this season that put the Bucs out of the Cougars reach.
