
Cougars Return Home to Host Campbell

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston women's soccer team will host Campbell on Sunday, October 12 at Patriots Point. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. and fans are encouraged to wear pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness.
Charleston's record is 7-5-1 overall and 3-2 in CAA play. Charleston is currently ranked second in the South division of the conference ahead of William & Mary, Campbell, Elon, and Hampton.
Most recently, Charleston fell to William & Mary 1-0 in Virginia. The game marked the first game in seven contests the Cougars have not scored. Against the Tribe, Charleston took 21 shots to William & Mary's nine. Charleston took three more corner kicks than the Tribe, totaling eight. Emma Wennar took five shots on goal while Faith Slimmer and Maggie Heffernan took four each.
Bella Antonio and Heffernan lead Charleston with five goals each. Antonio has four assists for 14 points total.
Nine Cougars have found goals this season and five have multiple goals.
Wennar leads the team in shots taken with 51 this season. Charleston has taken 237 shots this season compared to all opponents' 97.
Campbell enters the match 4-5-3 overall and 2-2-1 in CAA play. Campbell most recently hosted Elon where they fell 2-1 against the Phoenix. The Camels have defeated William & Mary and Hampton in the conference.
The Cougars have met the Camels ten times before with Sunday's match. Charleston's record against Campbell is 3-5-2 and 2-1-2 at home. The Cougars have won the last three matches allowing zero Campbell goals.
Last October, The College defeated the Camels 4-0 on the road. Charleston found three goals in the first eight minutes by Avery Nassetta, Shea Vidovic and Wennar. Slimmer scored the game winner in the 71st minute.
