Cougars Face Camels in Road Test

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – College of Charleston volleyball heads to North Carolina to take on Campbell Oct. 3-4. Opening serves are scheduled for 6 p.m. and 3 p.m. The matches will not be streamed.
 
OPENING SERVE:
  • Charleston beat Hofstra twice in five sets, improving to 8-6 overall and 2-2 in the CAA.
  • Five different Cougars tallied career highs last weekend, including graduate Izzy Marinelli who tied her collegiate best with 19 kills Saturday.
  • Freshmen Caroline Noonan and Makena Parthen were named CAA Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively.
  • Noonan tallied 33 kills, 13 blocks and hit .361 against the Pride. In Friday's match, the middle blocker recorded 16 kills and had a season-high 17 kills in Saturday's victory.
  • Noonan is the only player in the CAA with at least 150 kills and at least 50 blocks.
  • Parthen also collected 13 blocks in the weekend sweep.
  • Charleston ranks 24th nationally with 876 total digs and 37th with 1,998 total attacks. Both marks are good for second in the CAA behind Towson.
  • Freshman Jumana Martin's 259 digs this season is good for 17th in the country.
 
SCOUTING CAMPBELL
  • The Camels are 10-3 this season and opened CAA action last week with a pair of victories at William & Mary.
  • Gwen Wolkow leads Campbell with 140 kills while Aley Clent and Hailey Heytvelt have 35 and 32 blocks.
 
SERIES HISTORY:
  • The Cougars have a 16-4 against Campbell in the all-time series and swept the Camels in three sets both matches last season. Charleston is 10-3 in three set matches.
 
UP NEXT:
  • Charleston returns to TD Arena where it plays North Carolina A&T Oct. 10-11. The matches begin at 6 p.m. and 2 p.m. with Saturday's contest serving as the annual Dig Pink game. All home games are aired live on FloCollege.
