MT PLEASANT, S.C. – College of Charleston baseball lost the series opener to Creighton, 8-6, Friday afternoon at Patriots Point.

CRITICAL POINTS AGAINST CREIGHTON:

Creighton took a 3-0 lead in the first inning before the Cougars would eventually level the game in the third in the bottom of the second.
Graduate Avery Neaves hit a home run for the second straight game in the bottom of the first, giving CofC a long ball in six straight contests.
Charleston took a brief 4-3 advantage in the home half of the fourth before the Bluejays plated three runs off a homer in the fifth and tacked on two more scores in the sixth.
The Cougars looked to mount a comeback in the bottom of the seventh when senior Dylan Johnson singled to left, bringing in a pair.

OF NOTE:

Charleston and Creighton met for the first time in program history on Friday.
Sophomore Chase Jarnagin fanned a pair of batters in a scoreless seventh inning for the Cougars.
Freshman Drew Medley tossed the eighth and ninth frames, allowing just one hit.
Neaves recorded his eighth career three-hit game and fifth career three-RBI game with Charleston.
