COLUMBIA, S.C. – College of Charleston baseball lost to South Carolina, 4-3, Tuesday evening at Segra Park in Columbia.

The Cougars slip to 12-6 overall while the Gamecocks improve to 17-5 on the season.

CRITICAL POINTS AGAINST SOUTH CAROLINA:
- South Carolina opened the scoring in the bottom of the first before back-to-back doubles in the second from junior Payton Frehner and graduate Will Baumhofer leveled the contest at one.
- A pitcher's duel until through six, sophomore Schley Gordy drove in a pair with a single up the middle to give Charleston a 3-1 advantage in the seventh.
- The Gamecocks stormed back in the bottom half of the frame, plating three runs of their own to take the lead back.
- Redshirt junior Daniel Brooks allowed one run across two innings in the start, striking out three batters.
- Fellow redshirt junior Alex Lyon tossed 2.1 scoreless out of the bullpen following Brooks.
- Charleston's five through nine hitters tallied all 10 hits for the Cougars.

OF NOTE:
- Charleston is now 7-36 against South Carolina in the all-time series and 1-1 in neutral site contests.
- Lyon made his 58th career relief appearance, tying him with Nick Osterman (2008-12) for eighth all-time in program history.
- Four different Cougars recorded multiple hits in the setback.
- Gordy tallied his first two career hits on Tuesday.
- Baumhofer reached based in all four plate appearances, going 2-for-2 with a pair of walks.
