MT PLEASANT, S.C. – College of Charleston baseball plays host to Winthrop in a midweek contest on Wednesday, March 19 at Patriots Point. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.

The game will feature the first WINS-day; nine innings of winnings! Fans who enter the WINS-day raffle will have the chance to win Charleston baseball gear and other prizes.

FIRST PITCH:

CofC lost its first midweek of the year to South Carolina, 4-3, at Segra Park in Columbia Tuesday evening.
Sophomore Schley Gordy tallied his first two career hits in the loss, including a two-run single in the seventh to give the Cougars a brief 3-1 lead.
Charleston's five through nine hitters in the lineup recorded all 10 hits with four of them putting together multi-hit performances.
Redshirt junior Daniel Brooks made the start for CofC, striking out three in two innings of work.
Fellow redshirt junior Alex Lyon followed Brooks, tossing 2.1 scoreless frames.
With the relief appearance, Lyon ties Nick Osterman (2008-12) for eighth all-time in program history with 58 career games out of the bullpen.

SERIES HISTORY:

Charleston and Winthrop square off for the first time since 2012. The Cougars hold a 9-4 advantage in the all-time series and are 5-2 at home. CofC has won eight of the last nine meetings between the two schools including the last four contests.

UP NEXT:

Charleston starts Coastal Athletic Association play March 21-23 when it hosts Elon at Patriots Point. First pitches are slated for 6 p.m., 2 p.m. and 1 p.m. with all home games airing live on FloCollege.
