MT PLEASANT, S.C. – College of Charleston baseball lost the series opener to Campbell, 12-7, Friday evening at Patriots Point.

CRITICAL POINTS AGAINST CAMPBELL:

13 runs were scored between both teams in the first three innings.
Level at two in the home half of the first, freshman Alex LaCoste ripped a two-run double to the gap, giving the Cougars a 4-2 advantage.
Sophomore Brent Gibbs started the second with a solo home run over the left field wall, his first collegiate long ball.
Campbell scored eight unanswered over the final seven frames.
Graduate Avery Neaves and senior Dariyan Pendergrass both scored two runs in the setback.

OF NOTE:

Charleston slips to 14-17 all-time against Campbell.
LaCoste made his collegiate debut, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, a double and hit by pitch.
LaCoste also stole his first career base.
Redshirt junior Alex Lyon tossed three innings of relief Friday and has recorded at least six outs in nine outings including the last four appearances.
Neaves extended his streak of crossing the plate to six consecutive games.
