CONWAY, S.C. – College of Charleston baseball defeated No. 6 Coastal Carolina, 4-3, Tuesday afternoon at Springs Brooks Stadium.
The Cougars' pitching staff punched out 10 Chanticleers en route to their third consecutive victory over Coastal.
Freshman Carter Harrington fanned seven batters across 3.0 frames while graduate Kurt Rogers earned the win, tossing 3.0 innings to close out the win.

CRITICAL POINTS AGAINST COASTAL CAROLINA:
- Coastal plated runs in the second and fourth innings to take an early 2-0 lead.
- CofC got on the scoreboard in the fifth, scoring on a Coastal defensive miscue.
- Graduate Reese Holbrook leveled the contest at two in the seventh, singling to left to bring home senior Payton Frehner.
- After Coastal responded to re-take the lead in the home half of the frame, Charleston took the lead for good with a two-run eighth.
- With runners on second and third, Frehner's RBI scored redshirt senior Ethan Plyler before redshirt sophomore Jackson Berini's sacrifice fly to plate graduate Dylan Johnson helped seal the victory.
- On the mound, Harrington mowed down the Chants with seven strikeouts.
- Fellow first year Kaden Myers yielded just one run over 1.2 innings before redshirt sophomore Ryan Hench put up a zero in 1.1 frames.
- Rogers closed the door, allowing an unearned run on two hits while striking out three.
OF NOTE:
- Charleston picked up its third straight win over Coastal Carolina, improving to 29-27 against the Chanticleers.
- CofC earned back-to-back ranked victories over the Chants. 9 of CofC's wins versus Coastal have come when the Chants are ranked. All the ranked wins have come since 2009.
- Head coach Chad Holbrook picked up his eighth ranked victory with four of those coming against Coastal Carolina.
- CofC earned its first top 10 win since beating No. 2 Texas in 2022.
- Charleston has had a freshman make his first collegiate start against a ranked opponent for the second straight season. Drew Medley tossed 2.1 scoreless innings in the 4-2 win on April 22, 2025.
