Cougars Walk-Off Seawolves in Extras

CofC collected its third walk-off win of the year, improving to 8-10 and 3-2 in league while the Seawolves drop to 3-13 and 2-3 in the CAA.
CRITICAL POINTS AGAINST STONY BROOK:
- Trailing 2-0 in the fifth, Charleston used a three-spot in the home half of the frame to take the lead.
- Graduate Reece Holbrook leveled the game at two, singling in redshirt junior Braeden Smith before motoring around the bases in the next at bat on a freshman Jake Amman double.
- Smith later gave the Cougars the lead again in the eighth, hitting an infield dribbler.
- In the ninth, Stony Brook once again tied the game to send the contest to extras.
- Freshman Nick Diaz led off the bottom of the tenth with a double, sending redshirt freshman Will Burgess to the plate.
- Burgess bunted to the pitcher, who airmailed the throw into the outfield, allowing Diaz to score and Charleston to even the series.
OF NOTE:
- Charleston is now 9-2 against Stony Brook in the all-time series.
- Stancil recorded a career-best 5 strikeouts Saturday.
- Lyon tied Nathan Ocker (2016-19) for the second-most relief appearances in program history Saturday, pitching in his 85th career ballgame out of the bullpen.
- Five different Cougars collected multi-hit games in the win, with Amman going 3-for-5 Saturday.
- Charleston tallied a season-high 14 hits and five doubles.
