
Cougars Drop Midweek to #19 Tigers

MT PLEASANT, S.C. – College of Charleston baseball lost to No. 19 Clemson, 3-1, Tuesday evening at Patriots Point.
Redshirt senior Alex Lyon threw four shutout innings of relief for Charleston (9-11), going three above the minimum. All three of Clemson's (17-4) runs came from Nate Savoie, who hit a pair of homers.

CRITICAL POINTS AGAINST CLEMSON:
- Two batters into the game, Savoie hit his first home run to give the Tigers an early 1-0 advantage.
- Savoie made it a 3-0 ballgame with a two-run shot in the top of the third.
- Charleston responded in the home half when redshirt freshman Will Burgess tripled in freshman Stow Rogers.
- Freshman Jake Amman hit the game's second three-bagger with a two-out triple in the fifth.
- Freshman Kaden Myers tossed the eighth and ninth innings, yielding a lone hit.
OF NOTE:
- Tuesday's crowd of 1,680 set a Patriots Point single game attendance record.
- Charleston is 5-27 in the series with Clemson.
- Lyon made his 86th career relief appearance, taking sole possession of second in school history in the category.
- Lyon has gone at least 4.0 innings for the third time this season and seventh time in his career.
- Graduate Dylan Johnson threw out his 40th career would-be base stealer, tying him with Alex Garabedian (2006-07) for the second-most in school history.
- Johnson extended hit on base streak to 11 games with a single in the fourth.
- The Cougars hit two triples in a game for the first time since May 4, 2024, at Towson.
