MT PLEASANT, S.C. – College of Charleston baseball lost the series opener to UNCW, 2-1, Friday evening at Patriots Point.

Freshman Carter Harrington tossed a season-best 7.0 innings for CofC (9-11, 4-3 CAA). Connor Marshburn went six frames for the Seahawks, who improve to 15-7 overall and 4-0 in league play.

CRITICAL POINTS AGAINST UNCW:

Harrington struck out six Seahawks Friday.
UNCW broke the scoreless draw with a two-run double by Will Tyrrell in the third.
In the fourth, graduate Dylan Johnson threw out another runner, giving him 41 for his career.
CofC was able to get on the board in the bottom of the eighth courtesy of an RBI groundout from Johnson.

OF NOTE:

Charleston is 25-28 against UNCW in the all-time series.
Harrington's 7.0 innings is the longest start by a Charleston freshman since Caswell Smith tossed 7.0 innings March 7, 2020, against Evansville.
Wiegandt has thrown two innings in each of his last two outings and has not allowed a run in the last three appearances.
Johnson is a caught stealing away from tying Ereven Roper for the program record with 42.
Sophomore Alex LaCoste has a hit in eight straight ballgames.
