MT PLEASANT, S.C. – College of Charleston baseball hosts its first midweek game of the 2026 campaign when it welcomes Presbyterian to Patriots Point Tuesday for a 4 p.m. contest.
FIRST PITCH:
- Charleston went 1-1 in Greenville, S.C., this past weekend, defeating James Madison, 8-7, in 10 innings before being shut out by Illinois, 5-0, Saturday morning.
- Freshman Jake Amman had a scorching week at the plate and was named the Coastal Athletic Association Player of the Week for his efforts.
- Amman went 8-for-12 (.667 average) with a double, homer, 4 runs scored and 6 RBI in Charleston's three games last week to go along with a 1.714 OPS.
- Amman went 3-for-4 and belted a game-tying grand slam in the eighth against East Carolina. He was 4-for-5 in an 8-7 victory over James Madison Friday, scoring the game-tying run in the ninth before delivering a walk-off single in the tenth.
- Amman became the 50th Cougar to hit a grand slam and first since Tyler Sorrentino in 2022 whose first career long ball was a grand slam. The feat was also the second ever neutral site grand slam in program history.
- Freshman Carter Harrington made his first career weekend start Friday, going 5.0 frames against JMU in the no-decision.
- Fellow first year Jace Stancil tossed 6.0 innings of two-run ball Saturday versus the Illini.
SERIES HISTORY:
- CofC is 2-0 against Presbyterian, having previously beaten the school 9-5 at home on May 17, 2011, and 7-3, March 1, 2022, on the road.
UP NEXT:
- The Cougars begin CAA play against Hofstra March 6-8. Due to weather and field conditions, the previously scheduled road series will now be played at Patriots Point. Charleston will be the away team. First pitch Friday is set for 4 p.m.
