
Offense Goes Off in Cougars Sweep

MT PLEASANT, S.C. – College of Charleston baseball collected 10 runs on 14 hits as it defeated North Carolina A&T, 10-5, Sunday afternoon at Patriots Point to complete the series sweep.
The Cougars stole seven more bases as it improves to 8-7 in the CAA and 16-19 overall. The Aggies slip to 9-25 and 3-12 in league action.
Six different Charleston players had two-hit performances while freshman Jake Amman became the third Cougar with a three-stolen base game this weekend. Freshman Austin Wiegandt collected his second victory, striking out five Aggies in 3.2 innings while yielding just one run.
CofC went a perfect 4-0 this week and have won five consecutive games.

CRITICAL POINTS AGAINST NORTH CAROLINA A&T:
- The Aggies struck first with four runs in the opening frame.
- Sophomore Alex LaCoste cut the deficit in half in the third with a two-run single.
- Charleston broke the game open with seven runs in the fourth.
- Sending 11 batters to the plate, the Cougars slugged six singles, drew two walks and stole two bases in the frame.
- Charleston made it a 10-4 contest in the fifth when freshman Jake Amman and graduate Dylan Johnson executed a double steal before Amman took home on a throwing error by the North Carolina A&T catcher.
- Wiegandt entered the contest in the third and allowed just four above the minimum in the victory.
- Graduate Kurt Rogers tossed two scoreless innings before handing the ball of to first year Kaden Myers, who tossed a 1-2-3 ninth to seal the win.
OF NOTE:
- Charleston improves to 16-5 against N.C. A&T and 11-4 at home.
- CofC has swept the Aggies for the second straight season and have won seven of the last eight meetings.
- The seven runs scored in the fourth are the most in an inning this season.
- Amman swiped three bags Sunday, the third CofC player with a three-stolen base game this weekend. LaCoste and Holbrook each stole three in Saturday's victory.
- Holbrook also stole three bases Feb. 14 against Rutgers.
- Charleston stole 21 bases this weekend and have stolen 33 in the last five ballgames versus North Carolina A&T.
- LaCoste now has hits in 20 of the last 21 contests.
- CofC improves to 12-3 in 2026 when scoring six-or-more runs in a game.
