
Charleston Heads to Charleston Southern for Midweek

CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston baseball plays the back half of a home-and-home series at Charleston Southern May 5. First pitch from Nielsen Field is set for 6 p.m. with the game airing live on ESPN+.

FIRST PITCH:
- Charleston won the series at UNCW, taking two of three in Wilmington.
- Freshman Carter Harrington earned his second win of the year, tossing 7.0 innings in Friday's 6-2 victory.
- Redshirt senior Alex Lyon threw a scoreless eighth and ninth innings in the win, tying him with Carter Love for the most career relief appearances in program history with 95.
- Redshirt junior Carson Bryant and sophomore Parker Sweeney twirled a two-hit shutout Sunday to seal the series for Charleston as the Cougars won, 5-0.
- Bryant was named CAA Pitcher of the Week for his efforts as he allowed just one hit and one walk in a career-high 7.0 frames while also striking out a career-best seven batters.
- Five of Sweeney's six outs were strikeouts Sunday.
- CofC's starting pitchers combined for a 1.88 ERA over the weekend, allowing just five runs in 24.0 innings.
- Charleston has won each of the last three series in Wilmington dating back to 2022.
- The scheduled eight game road swing is the most consecutive road contests since 11 straight April 30-May 16 in 2021.
SERIES HISTORY:
- Charleston is 65-18 in the series with Charleston Southern and are 32-6 as the visitor.
- The Cougars earned a 7-5 win at Patriots Point back on April 21.
- Graduate Dylan Johnson went 4-for-5, while freshman Nick Diaz picked up three hits in four at bats with three runs and graduate Will Tippett drove in three runs on two hits while also crossing the plate twice.
- CofC has won 10 of the last 11 ballgames, including the last five. In 2025, the Cougars won 14-9 at home April 1 before defeating the Bucs 6-4 April 8 on the road.
