
Cougars Face Phoenix in Final Regular Season Road Weekend

ELON, N.C. – College of Charleston baseball wraps up its road conference schedule May 8-10 against Elon. First pitches from Latham Park are set for 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday in the finale.

FIRST PITCH:
- Charleston lost to Charleston Southern, 9-6, Tuesday evening.
- Redshirt senior Alex Lyon set the program record when he appeared in his 96th career relief appearance. Lyon is three appearances away from tying Carter Love for the most total appearances in school history.
- Freshman Jake Amman led off the game with a solo home run, his fourth of the season.
- Sophomore Alex LaCoste also went deep, launching a solo shot of his own in the fifth.
- Redshirt senior Ethan Plyler went 3-for-4, extending his hitting streak to six straight games. Plyler has multiple hits in five of those contests.
- Amman also enters the weekend riding a six-game hitting streak and is 11-for-29 in that span.
SERIES HISTORY:
- The Cougars hold a 47-33 advantage in the series with the Phoenix and are 18-12 on the road. Charleston has won six of the last seven ballgames.
- In 2025, CofC took two of the three games in the regular season last March before eliminating Elon from the CAA Tournament with a 4-2 victory May 23.
- Payton Frehner hit a walk-off run rule solo homer March 21, 2025, to defeat the Phoenix, 12-2, in eight innings in the weekend opener.
- Charleston last played in Elon in May of 2024, sweeping the season series by scores of 14-10, 8-6 and 13-1.

- Charleston has its final midweek contest of the season when it travels to Georgia Southern May 12. First pitch from Statesboro is set for 6 p.m.
