On Jeroszko: An imposing pitcher, Jeroszko will help to strengthen an already strong Cougars pitching staff and provide a solid target at first base.
2009: Played in 11 games, starting three ... made eight appearances in the pitching circle, all in relief ... posted 5.25 ERA and eight strikeouts in 12 innings of work ... threw 3.0 scoreless, hitless innings over her first two outings, including at South Carolina (2/7) where she struck out two batters ... had another scoreless, hitless outing with 1.2 innings of relief at USC Upstate (2/22) ... threw career-high three innings at Charlotte (3/10).
Hillcrest High School: Brings a wealth of championship experience as a five-year starter for the softball program and four-year starter for the volleyball team ... was integral part of Lady Rams softball program that won 96 consecutive games, setting the record for the State of South Carolina and ranking as the third longest in the nation ... starter on 2004 State Championship squad, 2007 Region Champions and 2008 District Champions ... as a freshman, delivered four straight complete games in the Lady Wildcat Tournament to lead HHS to tournament title and belted two walk-off homeruns in five-year career ... had banner year as a junior with .411 batting average, four homeruns, 31 RBIs and .642 slugging percentage at the plate while delivering a 13-2 record, 1.25 ERA and 15 complete games as a pitcher ... was even more dominant on the rubber as a senior as she posted a miniscule 0.78 ERA ... finished with career record of 39-12 and 1.82 ERA and .311 batting average with 96 RBIs ... As a senior, was an All-State selection by the Coaches Association of Women’s Sports and the High School Sports Report ... was also named Region II Player of the Year and chosen to play in the North-South All-Star Game ... All-Region selection and team captain as junior and senior.
On the volleyball court, was a right side hitter and middle blocker for back-to-back State Championship teams her final two seasons, including a perfect 26-0 record as a senior ... that season, she was named All-Region, a Go Army Player of the Week and served as team captain ... helped guide team to Region Championship as sophomore.
Personal: Born in Simpsonville, N.C. on May 14, 1990, Laura is the daughter of Mark and Belinda Jeroszko ... family includes a brother, current College of Charleston baseball player Robert Jeroszko ... member of National Honor Society and Beta Club ... her Beta Club activities included serving in a soup kitchen and working at youth camps ... graduated high school with distinguished honors ... recipient of BIC and LIFE Scholarships ... an accomplished artist that was the First Place Grand Prize Winner in the 2007 U.S. Attorney’s Annual Project Sentry Logo Contest ... topic was “Gun Prevention in Schools” and artwork was used statewide on brochures distributed by law enforcement ... currently majoring in business and marketing.
