CofC Advances to SoCon Semifinals

College of Charleston defeated Georgia Southern 3-0 (30-16, 30-19, 30-24) to advance to the semifinals in the Southern Conference Volleyball Tournament on Friday afternoon in Boone, N.C.
Charleston (24-7) will play Chattanooga at 1 p.m. on Saturday. The Lady Mocs (13-19) topped Davidson 3-0 to advance.
The Cougars held Georgia Southern to .121 hitting, while Charleston hit .353 as a team in Game 1.
Charleston's defense and poor hitting from the Eagles (.028) gave the Cougars a 2-0 lead, after notching a 30-19 win in Game 2.
Georgia Southern, which ends it season 14-14, saw its first lead of the match in Game 3, leading by as many as three, in a game that also saw xxx ties. The Cougars had their biggest lead ?“ six points ?“ twice before sealing the win, 30-24.
Sarah Voss paced the Cougars with a match-high 12 kills, followed by Tiffany Blum with 10, who also had a match-high 10 blocks for her first double-double of the season. Marie Dobrenz anchored the defense with a match-high 11 digs, and Lindsey Kane dished out a match-high 41 assists.
Gorana Bacic and Jennifer Charles each had 11 kills for the Eagles. Natalie Rodriguez came up with seven digs, and Mae Chabra dished out 30 assists.
The Eagles end their season with a 14-14 record.
