
CofC Defeats James Madison, Loses to North Dakota State

College of Charleston went 1-1 on the second day of the Cougar Classic as the Cougars fell to North Dakota State, 8-0, in Game 3, before the 2-1 win in Game Four over James Madison in softball action at Patriots Point Field in Mt. Pleasant, S.C.
The Cougars (4-4) were led by Amber Shifflett as she went for 2-for-3 at the plate. Shannon Howard (1-3) took the loss against the North Dakota State, giving up eight hits, three runs and striking out one in 2 1/3 innings of work.
The Bison's leadoff hitter, Lynnae Foshag, led the Bison's offensive attack on 3-for-3 hitting as she scored two runs and had two RBI. Bekki Rasmussen earned the win, giving up five hits and striking out four in five innings.
In the Cougars' second game of the day, Jennifer Golden was 1-for-3 at the plate with one RBI. Shifflett and pinch runner Darla Roberson each scored a run. Terri Mesko (3-1) went seven innings, giving up six hits and 10 strikeouts, for the win.

North Florida was led by Elizabeth Howell on 2-for-4 hitting with an RBI. Tori Ahern notched the win as she gave up one hit and a run in five innings of work. She struck out five.
Danielle Just, who went 2-for-3 at the plate, scored Manhattan's lone run.

In the second game of the Cougar Classic, North Florida improved to 4-4 as the Ospreys defeated North Dakota State, 6-5.
Ashley Parenteau led the offense on 3-for-4 hitting. She scored two runs and had two RBI. Katie earned the win as she struck out three and gave up seven hits.
Lynnae Foshag led the Bison (7-1) at the plate on 3-for-3 hitting. She scored one run and had one RBI.

North Dakota State will face Manhattan on Sunday at 9 a.m., and Manhattan will face College of Charleston at 11:30 a.m., before James Madison and North Florida conclude tournament action at 2 p.m.
