
Cougars Split Doubleheader With Pitt

The College Charleston and Pitt both earned wins in Monday's doubleheader at Patriots Point Field in
The Cougars (9-10) shutout the Panthers in Game 1, 2-0, before Pitt (3-10) took the 3-1 win in Game 2.
Izmena Cabrera, who was 2-for-3 in Game 1, scored
Terri Mesko pitched a complete game to move to 5-3 on the season. She struck out eight, walked two and gave up three hits.
Samantha Card led the Pitt offense as she was 2-for-3 at the plate. Kayla Zinger (0-5) gave up five hits, struck out five and walked two.
Kolby Schooley, who hit 1-for-2, got her first Cougar career homerun in the bottom of sixth inning, but it wasn't enough to overcome Pitt's three-run third inning in Game 2.
The top of order for the Panthers ? Sheena Hellon, Morgan Howard and Jessica Dignon ? each scored runs for Pitt. Howard was 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the offense, followed by Dignon (2-for-3) and Hellon (2-for-4).
Meghan Bostick improved to 2-2 on the season, giving up three hits and four walks in five innings of work. She fanned nine batters.
Shannon Howard fell to 2-6 on the season as she gave nine hits in seven innings of work. She walked two and struck out five.
The Cougars return to action on Tuesday as they take on
