
Cougars Down Western Carolina in Game Three, 9-2

After going 2-1 in the series, the Cougars move to 25-27 overall and 7-5 in SoCon play. The Catamounts fall to 9-30 overall, 3-12 in the league.
Kristie Shifflett opened the scoring for the Cougars in the first with a two-out, two run bomb to left center. The home run was the fourth of the season for the sophomore third baseman. Shifflett's hit drove in freshman Kristi Woodall who reached on a single to center.
Woodall, the Huntersville, N.C., native drove in two runs in the second. With Tiffany Harmon and Christal Kotchman on second and third, Woodall doubled to right center. With one out in the inning, freshman Katie Nutaitis reached on a fielder's choice, allowing Woodall to score her second run of the game and putting the Cougars up 5-0.
Kotchman, the junior shortstop and catcher Brittany Small scored runs in the third for three straight innings with runs for CofC.
Stephanie Beatty and Mollie Fowler spoiled the shut-out and the no-hitter for Howard and the Cougars. The Catamounts hit back-to-back home runs in the bottom of the fifth. Beatty hit her second homer of the season of the left field fence and Fowler followed with her sixth to the opposite side.
Shifflett went 4-for-5 on the afternoon to lead the offense.  The
