Mesko allowed just four
Leadoff hitter Tiffany Harmon was the catalyst at the plate for the Cougars as she went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI. Brittany Small added an RBI triple while Christal Kotchman drove in a pair of runs.
The Cougars proved to be most productive in the fourth and sixth innings. Freshman Linzi Bereitschaft walked to with the bases loaded to bring in Katie Nutaitis. Kotchman singled through the left side driving in Mesko and Small, to push the CofC lead to 7-0.
The four runs in the sixth inning were driven in by Mesko and Harmon. With Small and Nutaitis on, Mesko hit a double to right center, driving in Small. Harmon, smacked a double to deep left field to score Nutaitis and Mesko. She took advantage of a bobbled ball to score the fourth run of the inning.
Mesko helped her cause at the plate by scoring twice and driving in a run as well. She struck out 12 batters and allowed only four hits in the effort.
