POSTGAME NOTES
• For the 13th time this season, CofC used the starting lineup of senior Donavan Monroe, senior Andrew Goudelock, junior Antwaine Wiggins, sophomore Willis Hall and freshman Trent Wiedeman (9-4).
• With the loss, the Cougars are now 0-1 against Wichita State, coached by former CofC assistant coach Gregg Marshall, in the all-time series. It marked their first-ever meeting with an opponent from the Missouri Valley Conference.
• CofC played in its 37th game of the season which was the second-most games played in a single season behind 38 games during the 1982-83 campaign. They also tied their longest run in the month of March next to a March 23 second-round matchup in the CBI against Richmond in 2009. It was also its longest run in postseason play (NCAA or NIT) in school history since its NAIA days under legendary head coach John Kresse.
• Andrew Goudelock turned in his eighth career 30-point game with a game-high 31 points against the Shockers. He drained all seven of his three-pointers in the second half of play where the Cougars cut a 21-point lead down to seven in the closing seconds of the contest. Goudelock closed out his storied four-year career as CofC's all-time leading scorer with 2,571 career points which also ranks 38th all-time in NCAA Division I men's basketball history and third-most in Southern Conference history.
• Goudelock also solidified his spot among all-time greatest scorers in college basketball history surpassing Utah's Keith Van Horn (2,542), Arizona's Sean Elliott (2,555) and Notre Dame's Austin Carr (2,560) on the elite list.
• Donavan Monroe closed out his four-year career with 19 points against Wichita State and ranks 12th all-time in career scoring in the CofC record books with 1,382 career points. He dished out a career-best 97 assists this season as starting point guard.
POSTGAME QUOTES
College of Charleston Head Coach Bobby Cremins
On the game ...
"First off, it was great to come here and play. It was a great atmosphere - an unbelievable home court. What great basketball fans in Wichita. This city has a lot to be proud of with fans like that. We dug a hole in the first half. We got a little excited and got away from our game. The most important thing is these guys never quit. I was glad to see our two seniors going down like that fighting. We could have lost by 40 (points). They tried to give us a knock-out punch and we hung in there, because we were getting knocked around. They got a baseline layup late and I wish we could have gotten the stop there. Drew (Goudelock) was starting to get hot and Donavan (Monroe) was starting to get hot. It was getting interesting and anything could have happened. We hate to lose, but we went out fighting. These kids have had a great season. I don't want to use this as an excuse, but when we lost (Jeremy) Simmons, we lost our inside presence. But, our team kept playing. There is so much pressure on our guards (and Goudelock) to score. Wichita State has great balance. They have a nice inside-outside game. They are going to have a great chance to win the NIT. Congratulations to Gregg and his program. I thought we walked out of this game with our heads up tonight."

On the emotion of his final game ...
"It was tough. It just hit me awhile ago. It was a good four years for me and Andrew and something we will always remember. Like Coach (Cremins) said, 'we went out fighting.' It's too bad we couldn't win. Our four years here, it's been great at the College of Charleston and playing for Coach Cremins."
College of Charleston Senior Guard Andrew Goudelock
On the emotion of his final game ...
"I feel the same way as Donavan. I love my teammates, my coaches, the city of Charleston and the whole program. It's hard to believe it's your last game, because it seemed like we just got here. I remember the first time when I met Donavan, Antwaine (Wiggins) and Jeremy (Simmons). We have a lot of memories. You don't want to leave your teammates, because they are your best friends and brothers. We are now opening another new chapter in life. I'm just happy I had a chance to spend four years with these guys and we learned a lot about college and life and knowing what it takes to be a good person. We will keep in touch."
