NEWARK, Del. – Four players scored in double figures, but it wasn't enough as College of Charleston fell 71-68 at Delaware in Colonial Athletic Association action held on Saturday afternoon at the Bob Carpenter Center.
The Cougars (6-17, 1-9 CAA) led 33-29 at halftime, but the Blue Hens (5-16, 4-6) used a 19-5 second-half run to end a two-game losing skid and sweep CofC for the second year in a row in the regular-season series.
Kyle Anderson's three-pointer gave Delaware its first lead of the game, 39-37, at the 15:50 minute mark. He was one of five UD players to score in double figures with a team-high 14 points.
Another Anderson three put the Blue Hens ahead by 15 with 2:30 left – its largest lead – as Charleston rallied and cut the lead back down to three points, but could not get closer.
CofC shot 48 percent from the field (24-of-50), but just 5-of-18 from three-point range (27.8%). Delaware converted 20-of-26 free throw attempts (76.9%). Marvin King-Davis and Chivarsky Corbett each had 11 points in the winning cause for the Blue Hens.

POSTGAME QUOTES
College of Charleston Head Coach Earl Grant
On another close road loss …
“That (12-4 Delaware) run really started in the first half and then it trickled over to the beginning of the second half. We were up 10 (points) with four minutes to go and went into the locker room up by four. We had four guys in double figures and I honestly think our defense failed us today. If you are a good team, you don't give up 71 (points). You don't win games by giving up 75 or 71, but 60 or 65. Our defense isn't good enough. At halftime, we talked about continuing to attack in the second half and being more aggressive. For whatever reason, we weren't able to get fast-break points in the second half. But, it's a reflection of how many stops you get. In the second half, they scored 42 and there weren't many opportunities to do so. It starts with the defense. I have to figure out why we can't duplicate two halves. We have to be better defensively.”
On the inside play of Adjehi Baru with 11 points and eight rebounds …
“Adjehi got six shots, but he probably had 15 touches. Sometimes he throws it out which is good at times. But, there are times where he should keep the ball – right in his hands is where we want him.”
On the play of Cameron Johnson …
“He (Cameron) did a great job of being aggressive. We talked about being in attack mode, getting in the lane and getting free throw opportunities. I was proud to see he and other guys on our team were able to attack the paint like they did today.”
