Bolden, Pointer Named Harris Teeter Student-Athletes of the Week

Despite a pair of tough losses this week, junior guard Breanna Bolden maintained her high level of play against CAA opposition. On Friday, the Cougars hit the road for Harrisonburg, Va., where they took on the reigning CAA champions James Madison. Bolden led the Cougars with 13 points, five boards and three assists, and followed that up with a 13-point, 12 rebound double-double at home against Hofstra, adding five assists and three steals. Bolden advanced her career-takeaway total to 183, surpassing Jade Hughes (2005-10) and moving herself into fourth place in steals in CofC Division I History.

Marquise Pointer | Men's Basketball | Freshman | Jonesboro, Ark.

Freshman guard Marquise Pointer (Jonesboro, Ark.) led College of Charleston to a 1-1 week in conference play including a 72-61 upset of preseason favorite Hofstra on Jan. 7. He made his first career start for the Cougars against the Pride and poured in a game-high 19 points and dished out a career-and season-high tying six assists. It marked the second-straight game for Pointer to lead the team in scoring behind a career-high 23-point outing at William & Mary on Jan. 2. He has reached double figures in five out of the last seven games and averaged a team-leading 13.0 points, 5.0 assists and 1.5 steals combined against Hofstra and Drexel. He also went 6-of-15 from three-point range.
