Mount Pleasant, S.C. – Yari Felix capped a rally in the bottom of the ninth by doubling in a pair of runs to lift the College of Charleston to a 7-6 victory over Winthrop on the final day of the Holy City Showdown at Patriots Point.
The Cougars (15-8) won three of four in the tournament heading into a busy week which will see them play a doubleheader against Duke on Wednesday before hosting the Charleston Invitational beginning with a twinbill against Eastern Illinois on Thursday.
Winthrop took a 6-5 lead in the top of the ninth before the the Cougars staged their second comeback in three innings. Dexlie Inman was placed on second as per the softball tiebreaker rule, and one out later Taylor DuPree singled and stole second.
