Jacksonville, Fla. – Madi Brown hit a go-ahead home run in the sixth, but Jacksonville matched it in the bottom of the seventh to give the Dolphins a 5-4 victory over the College of Charleston in the final game of the Osprey/Dolphin Invitational.

The Cougars lost earlier in the day to South Dakota State by a score of 9-4 and are 5-5 on the season. Charleston returns home Thursday to face Radford at 6 p.m. in the opening game of the Holy City Showdown at Patriots Point.

The Cougars trailed Jacksonville, 2-0, and were held without a hit until an RBI single by Yari Felix capped a two-run fifth to tie the game. The Dolphins went back in front in their half of the inning before Lexee Emanuel singled and scored when Brown cleared the fence in right center for a 4-3 lead.

Alondra Vicary grabbed a liner and doubled off a runner at first in the bottom of the sixth to end a bases loaded threat and keep Charleston in front. But following a hit by pitch, Hannah Roberts homered to hand the Cougars a stunning defeat.

In their first game on Sunday, South Dakota State jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the second after putting together six straight two-out hits. Emanuel homered to lead off the fourth, Brown and Dexlie Inman had consecutive doubles to make it 4-2, and Brittany Vicary added the third two-bagger of the inning to pull Charleston within a run.

But the Jackrabbits responded with four runs in the fifth to re-open their lead to five. The Cougars tacked on a final run in the seventh on a bases loaded walk to Emanuel. Chandler Sparkman had a pinch hit single in the inning for her first hit as a Cougar.

Kylie Burke, the third pitcher of the game, worked the final 1.2 innings and did not allow an earned run.
