Cougars Head to Philadelphia for CAA Series Against Drexel

Charleston, S.C. – The College of Charleston resumes Colonial Athletic Association play this weekend with a three-game set at Drexel. The teams play a doubleheader on Saturday at 11 a.m. and a single game on Sunday at noon.

The Cougars (16-16 overall) dropped two of three to Hofstra in their opening conference series while the Dragons (15-10-1) swept Delaware and have won eight in a row excluding a tie with Lafayette. Charleston holds a 12-4 lead in the all-time series and won two of three at Patriots Point a year ago.
Madi Brown leads a trio of Cougars batting over .300 with a mark of .347 while ranking fourth in the CAA with 34 hits. She is also tied for the team lead with Lexee Emanuel with nine doubles, a total tied for second in the league, and is one of two Cougars (along with Dexlie Inman) to start all 32 games.
Yari Felix (.333) and Gracyn Thrasher (.303) are also over .300 with Felix leading the team with seven stolen bases in as many attempts. Thrasher is tied with Chandler Sparkman for the lead in home runs with four. Emanuel has a team-best 16 RBI.
Drayton Siegling (5-1, 2.51 ERA) and Sparkman (4-3, 2.70, 57 strikeouts) pace the pitching staff. All five Cougar hurlers have at least one save this season led by Sparkman with three.
Drexel is batting .336 as a team with nine players over the .300 mark, and the Dragons boast two of the top offensive players in the CAA in Kristi DiMeo and Linda Rush.
DiMeo ranks second in the conference in batting (.506) and leads the league in slugging (1.023), hits (44), RBI (44), home runs (12) and total bases (89). Rush is fourth in hitting (.439), first in runs (36) and doubles (12), second in slugging (.951), RBI (39) and total bases (78), third in hits (36) and fourth in home runs (10).
Brooklyn Daly is 9-1 with a 2.88 ERA and is fifth in the CAA with a .231 opponent batting average. Devon Grippe has five wins and is fourth in the conference with a 1.95 ERA.
