
Cougars Head to Towson for CAA Weekend Set

Charleston, S.C. – The College of Charleston looks to gain ground in the race for a spot in the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament when the Cougars travel to Towson for three games this weekend.
The teams will meet in a doubleheader on Saturday at noon and a single game on Sunday at 1 p.m. Video and live stats links for all three games are available on the Charleston softball schedule page.
The Cougars (18-21 overall) and Tigers (19-19) are in a three-way tie for sixth in the CAA with league records of 3-6. The top five teams at the end of the regular season qualify for postseason play.
Charleston holds a 13-10 lead in the all-time series, but Towson has won five of six games at home. The Cougars won two of three at Patriots Point a year ago.
Yari Felix continues to lead the Cougars with a .356 batting average as well as runs with 27 and stolen bases with nine in as many attempts. Madi Brown is at .341, leads the team with 42 hits and is tied with Lexee Emanuel and Dexlie Inman for the top spot with 10 doubles.
In addition to two-base hits, Emanuel is first on the squad with 20 RBI, two more than Brown, and Gracyn Thrasher is batting .302 with three home runs.
Towson has won five of its last six including two of three at Delaware last weekend. Nicole Stockinger leads the Tigers at the plate with a .373 average and ranks third in the CAA in runs (34), tied for third in home runs (12), fourth in slugging percentage (.833) and fifth in RBI (35).
Julia Smith-Harrington is second in the CAA with 14 doubles and has driven in 29 runs. She also has six wins with three shutouts and a 2.20 ERA and opponents are batting just .200 off her, the third-lowest mark in the league. Sara Johnson has nine wins and is second in the conference with 102 strikeouts.
