CHARLESTON, S.C. --- The College of Charleston volleyball team endured perhaps its toughest test of the season on opening night Friday, as the Cougars fell to the top-ranked Stanford Cardinal in straight sets despite strong performances from several newcomers on the first night of the Hampton Inn Charleston/West Ashley CofC Classic.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Cardinal combined for 46 kills and a .354 hitting percentage – led by a match-high 16 kills from two-time AVCA National Player of the Year Kathryn Plummer in a three-set sweep. Three Cougars combined for 15 of the team's 20 kills including a five-kill effort from sophomore
Sylvia Duggan. Stanford won the match by set scores of 25-9, 25-17 and 25-15.
