COUGAR SOUND BITES
"Drexel is a good team. Coach (Spiker) is doing a really good job with his program. They have gotten better every year. We've battled with them and it's always a challenging game when we play them. They have good players. (Camren) Wynter is leading their program and Butler is kind of their go-to guy inside. They have a good supporting cast. Certainly, it's going to be a challenge. We have to be ready to play on Sunday." – Head Coach Earl Grant on Drexel
"It's good to have older guys. All of them have been through multiple conference tournaments and preseason tournaments. It's nice to have that experience. You can't really trade for experience. That is the most valuable thing you can have on your team. To have some older guys, who have been through some battles. That is very critical for us heading into this tournament." – Coach Grant on having veteran players going into the CAA Tournament with Osinachi Smart, Payton Willis, Lorenzo Edwards and Zep Jasper
"Like Coach Grant told us, this is the third season now. The biggest thing for us is to focus on the first game. We have to be able to get that first win and move on from there. It's win or go home. It's been hard with COVID going on (and the team pauses to prepare for this tournament). We have to be able to find a way to play as a team this first game coming up. When you go back and see what we have done (throughout the season), you can see the results. The biggest thing for us is just to be able to close out games and do what we do. Not letting off. A couple of times, we did not finish the game the right way. That was something we talked about going into this tournament." – Senior Forward/Center Osinachi Smart on prepping for the CAA Tournament
"The dream I have coming into this tournament is just try to win a championship. In order to do that, we have to win that first game. As a senior, a lot players look up to me to be that guy, who talks to the players and getting them in the right mindset. I've been here before, it's not my first time. A couple of the guys we have, they haven't been to the tournament. A lot of them look up to me. It's my job to have them understand this first game really matters. That's the game that will set the tone for us to make a run in the tournament." – Smart on his final CAA Tournament and leading the younger players on the squad
"The challenge is going to be stopping Camren Wynter. He is the head of the snake. He dictates what happens with their team. He's just a great leader. He's also one of the best guards in the conference. It's always fun to match-up with guys like that. But, I'm always up for the challenge. I think our team is going to be ready. We are going to have grit and will have an edge." – Junior Guard Zep Jasper on the challenges Drexel presents
"It's been very fun playing with those guys. I have a great relationship with all of them. I Just want to make sure I reward them by getting a CAA Championship. If there is one thing I can do for this program. I am hungry, I am hungry right now for a CAA Championship." – Jasper on playing with the team's seniors and sending them off the right way
