CHARLESTON, S.C. --- The College of Charleston baseball team resumes its Colonial Athletic Association schedule this weekend when the Cougars welcome James Madison to Patriots Point for a crucial three-game series. First pitch on Friday evening is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
Weekend Preview
The Cougars have won four of their last five including a 13-6 victory over Clemson on Tuesday evening. James Madison has not played since its 2-1 series win against the Cougars on April 2-3 in Harrisonburg, Va.
Scouting James Madison
The Dukes enter the weekend with a 5-7 overall record and a 2-1 mark in CAA play. James Madison is batting .268 as a team with 10 homers and a .418 slugging percentage in 12 games.
Fox Semones leads the Dukes with a .433 batting average while Travis Reifsnider has clubbed three homers and driven in nine runs. Friday starter Liam McDonnell is 1-0 this season with a 5.94 ERA and 13 strikeouts in 16.2 innings pitched over four appearances including three starts.

The Cougars defeated Clemson in consecutive seasons for the first time in program history with a 13-6 win over the Tigers on Tuesday. Tanner Steffy hit the first two home runs of his collegiate career as he and Luke Stageberg each drove in three runs to pace the offense. William Privette also allowed only one run and struck out six over 4.2 innings in his first collegiate start.
Finding Their Groove
The Cougars have done their fair share of scoring with two outs with nearly 50 percent (68 of 144) of their total runs coming with two down. More than 42 percent (55 of 129) of the Cougars' RBI have come with two outs led by senior Harrison Hawkins, who has accounted for 17 of those RBI and leads the team with a .351 batting average with runners in scoring position. Freshman southpaw Connor Campbell has slotted in as the Cougars' Sunday starter over the last two weekends and shined, going 2-0 while allowing one run on 11 hits and striking out 13 in 14 innings of work. Hammering Homers

Four Cougars have accounted for all of those home runs including a three-homer effort for leadoff man Joseph Mershon in a doubleheader against Tennessee Tech last Saturday.
