CHARLESTON, S.C. --- The fourth-seeded College of Charleston baseball team is primed and ready to open play in the 2021 Colonial Athletic Association Championship and will face fifth-seeded Towson in the first game of the championship on Wednesday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. at Brooks Field in Wilmington, N.C.
Game Preview
The fourth-seeded Cougars and fifth-seeded Tigers will meet for the 23rd time on Wednesday and first time ever in the postseason. Charleston finished the regular season with a 12-12 mark in CAA South play compared to an 11-12 record in CAA North action for Towson.
Scouting Towson
Towson carries a 21-34 overall record into the postseason and finished second in the CAA North Division behind top-seeded Northeastern. The Tigers are batting .229 as a team with 22 home runs and have compiled a 5.59 team ERA this season.
Bill Godrick leads the Tigers with a .260 batting average while Noah Cabrera paces the squad with 32 RBI. Burke Camper has launched a squad-best four homers. Wednesday starter Josh Seils is 3-6 this season with a 6.03 ERA and 55 strikeouts in 77.2 innings pitched.

The Cougars dropped two of three to the Elon Phoenix on the regular season's final weekend as their Senior Day rally came up just short despite a seven-run fourth inning.

Charleston's offense has done nearly half of its damage with two outs this season entering the CAA Tournament having scored 133 of its 291 total runs (45.7 %) with two down. More than 43 percent of the Cougars' total RBI (113 of 262) have come with one out remaining, led by Harrison Hawkins with 29 two-out runs driven in.
Venerated Cougars
Five Cougars collected postseason honors from the CAA on Tuesday led by senior outfielder Harrison Hawkins who earned a spot on the All-CAA First Team. Jared Kirven, Joseph Mershon, Tanner Steffy and Trey Pooser were each named to the All-CAA Second Team while Mershon and Pooser both collected CAA All-Rookie honors as well.
