Puckett, Valdez Go Deep in Loss to Gamecocks

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Carsten Puckett and Chloe Valdez accounted for the College of Charleston scoring with home runs in Thursday's 10-3 loss to South Carolina in Columbia.
Puckett hit a two-run homer in the third, her second of the season, and Valdez added a solo shot for her first career long ball in the fourth.
Charleston totaled seven hits including two each by Valdez and Mia Dittoe. The Cougars had multiple scoring chances but stranded 10 runners included the bases loaded in the fifth.
Freshman outfielder Kayla Oh pinch hit in the seventh against her sister, Gamecock senior pitcher Kelsey Oh, and reached on an error.
The Cougars return home this weekend for a three-game series against East Carolina beginning with a doubleheader on Saturday at 1 p.m.
