
Cougars Wrap Up Tournament Play at Purple & Gold Challenge

CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston competes in its final tournament of the regular season this weekend in Nashville at Lipscomb's Purple & Gold Challenge.
The Cougars take on Southeast Missouri State (SEMO) and Dayton on Friday, SEMO and the host Bisons on Saturday and conclude play with a rematch against Dayton on Sunday.
Charleston earned a pair of walk-off victories in the Cougar Classic last weekend at Patriots Point, with Kelli Anne Carter and Mia Dittoe producing game-winning hits in 5-4 wins over Appalachian State and Western Carolina, respectively.
The Cougars enter the weekend ranked second in the CAA with a team ERA of 2.75. McKenna Kelly is fifth in the conference at 1.79, and Carli McCants is eighth with a mark of 2.22. McCants also stands fourth with 23 strikeouts and a .211 opponent batting average.
Three Cougars are batting over .300, including Jenna Helberg (.381), Jenna Carter (.333) and Payton Wade (.325). Helberg leads the CAA with seven doubles, one more than Wade, and the duo are tied for sixth with nine RBI.
