Crawford was a finalist for the Charlotte Observer North Carolina Mr. Basketball Award
CHARLESTON, S.C. – CofC Basketball signed long time commit Jordan Crawford on Thursday, head coach Pat Kelsey announced. The incoming freshman is a 6-foot-2 wing from North Mecklenburg High School in Huntersville, North Carolina. Crawford inked his National Letter of Intent to suit up for the Cougars next season.
Crawford was one of three finalists for the coveted Charlotte Observer North Carolina Mr. Basketball award. He was also named Third-Team All-State and First Team All-District by the North Carolina Basketball Coaches Association following his senior season. Crawford added to his hardware with a QCAC All-Conference nod.
"Jordan is an electric scorer at all three levels and has the ability to impact our program right away," Kelsey said. "He's battled against high-level competition throughout his prep career. He has a relentless motor and high character off the court, and we're excited to have him in Our City."
Crawford averaged 19.8 points per game as a high school senior, finishing with 595 points while draining 69 triples. The gifted scorer racked up double figures in 27 of 29 games and scored 20+ on 15 occasions. Crawford finished his senior campaign with 58 steals, 56 assists and 72 rebounds.
He shined on the biggest stages, averaging 34 points over two games to help his squad win the Holden Classic and erupting for 29 points at the famed John Wall Holiday Invitational.
Crawford eventually led North Meck to the North Carolina 4A Regional Semifinal, powering the Vikings to a Quarterfinal victory over Myers Park with 25 clutch points. Before the deep postseason run, Crawford captained North Meck to a Queen City Athletic Conference 3A/4A Championship, winning All-Tournament MVP recognition in the process.
Crawford joins a pair of grad transfer newcomers in Ryan Larson and Pat Robinson III as additions to the Cougars' roster this spring thus far.
