
Cougars Complete Comeback Over Tigers

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The College of Charleston men's basketball team came back from down ten to defeat Towson 83-75 Thursday night for a nation's best 27 wins.
Both teams traded baskets back-and-forth until Ryan Larson hit a deep trey to take a three-point lead four minutes into the game. The Tigers retaliated by forcing three turnovers and scoring six unanswered points to take a 13-10 lead.
Towson continued to push to as much as a six-point edge, but Charleston regained the momentum with a game-tying three-pointer from Reyne Smith. The Tigers pushed back again with a 7-0 run to stay ahead at 32-25 until Jaylon Scott drove to the basket and picked up the and-one to bring the Cougars back within one just before the half. A Towson buzzer-beater three propelled the Tigers to a 38-34 lead entering the locker room.
The Cougars continued to trail into the second half, falling behind by as much as 10. An 8-0 Charleston run and a two-minute scoring drought for the Tigers brought the game to 61-61 tie.
With seven minutes left in the game, Smith made three foul shots to give the Cougars their first lead of the night since 10-7 in the first half. The Cougars continued to surge with an 18-3 run highlighted by a Babacar Faye slam dunk off the fast break to take a 71-64 lead. Pat Robinson III drained a jumper in the paint to push the Cougars' lead to eight, the largest of the night to help secure the win.

- Charleston continues to lead the nation in offensive rebounds per game with 13.86
- With a win on Saturday, Charleston will clinch at least a share of the regular season CAA championship.
- The Cougars' 27 wins prior to the CAA Championship are the most in league history. The previous mark was set by UNCW with 26 regular season victories in 2016-17.
- The Cougars host Stony Brook on Saturday for the final game of the regular season. Tip-off is set for 12:00 p.m.
