CHARLESTON, S.C. - College of Charleston steps out of conference play Wednesday when the Cougars host Georgia Southern for a 5 p.m. contest at Patriots Point.
Following the game, fans will be welcomed on the field for autographs with the Cougar players.
The game is the third of the season between the former Southern Conference rivals. The Cougars defeated the Eagles, 5-1, at the Bubly Invitational in Gainesville, Fla., on February 16. Payton Lemire allowed only four hits in a complete game outing while Shealyn Starks had three hits and Sierra Paradis drove in two runs
Georgia Southern evened up matters with a 3-2 win in Statesboro, Ga., on March 13. Charleston tied it in the fifth on an RBI double by Kaytlin Stacey before the Eagles scored the winning run in the bottom of the inning.
The split this season leaves Georgia Southern ahead, 50-30, in the all-time series dating back to the start of the Charleston softball program in 1993.
