CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston heads into a critical stretch of six straight CAA road contests beginning with a three-game series at UNCW this weekend.
The Cougars and Seahawks meet at Boseman Field on Friday at 6 p.m. followed by games on Saturday at 4 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m. Charleston then travels to Campbell on April 12-14 to take on another CAA frontrunner.
The Cougars need to string together victories to keep their hopes alive for a berth in the six-team CAA Tournament. Charleston is five games out of sixth place in the loss column and facing consecutive series against teams that are 8-4 in the league and in a three-way tie for second.
UNCW is 18-15 overall and coming off a win over North Carolina for the second straight season. The Seahawks got off to a fast start in CAA play with eight straight wins before losing their last four including a sweep at the hands of Hofstra last weekend.
The all-time series is tied at 31 wins apiece, and the Seahawks won two of three at Patriots Point last May. The Cougars earned a win in the opener when Payton Lemire tossed a two-hit shutout in a 2-0 victory.
